
Healing Haven
A safe and comforting day refuge for victims, survivors, and families impacted by violent crime.
The Healing Haven at Candace House offers a safe and comforting home-like day* refuge located within one block of the Winnipeg Provincial Law Courts for victims, survivors, and families attending court proceedings.
Space is available for two to three families during the day, with priority given to families who have lost a loved one through criminal violence. Access is based on referrals through Manitoba Justice Victim Services, other community support agencies, and sometimes self-referral.
The Healing Haven offers a safe place to take a break, debrief, or prepare and eat a meal or snack in a setting of privacy and confidentiality, and surrounded by warmth and care. Spaces and amenities include:

A resource area with access to brochures, pamphlets, and books

A place to take off your jacket and shoes and put on a pair of slippers provided for you

A full meal program with lunch provided, with a fully equipped kitchen for guests to prepare and eat meals together, with coffee and tea always available

A private washroom with some toiletries available

A living room, with access to WiFi, TV with Netflix

Books, toys, crafts, and games to distract from court

Ventilation for smudging or lighting of incense in every room

A meeting room to speak quietly with support staff

Help connecting with resources, counselling services, and cultural support as needed
